This live performance took place at 'Songs by the Sea' at Shells Seaside Café in Strandhill, Co. Sligo - during the Cairde Sligo Arts Festival on July 6th 2016. 'Serpents' is taken from the new album 'The Soft Animal' by Nocturnes, out now on all good digital platforms and even on old fashioned CD http://bit.ly/2ait677 NOCTURNES [are] Pearse McGloughlin (vocals, guitar) Enda Roche (vocals, guitar, percussion) Sweeney Lee (vocals) Billy Donohue (keys, vocals) The story of 'The Soft Animal' is a complex one; it involves nautical themes, dramatic rescues, the relationship between man and the natural world and our struggles with serpents of many types - real and imagined. It is a story that is gradually unravelling and revealing itself through each song from the album. 'The Soft Animal' features the musical talents of many fine artists, including Choice Music Award winning Adrian Crowley on lead vocals for ‘Heikegani’; Pearse’s long time collaborator Enda Roche on multiple instruments; Christophe Capewell on violins and Christian Volkmannon harmonica for 'On The Mississippi'. It was produced at Asta Kalapa studios by Darragh Nolan. The album was largely recorded in live takes creating a heady organic impact. It was released on Bluestack Records / Urchin Music in late July 2016.
